Toyota launches new mid-spec automatic variant of Rumion, priced at Rs 13 lakh

Toyota Rumion made its debut in our market back in 2023, representing a restyled and rebranded version of the Maruti Ertiga. Initially, the entry-level Toyota MPV offered only two automatic variants, namely, S and V. However, the carmaker has now broadened Rumoin’s automatic lineup by introducing a new mid-spec G AT variant, booking for which commences on April 29, 2024, with an amount of Rs 11,000 for booking, while, the deliveries are set to begin from May 5, 2024.

Here's where the new automatic variant fits into the lineup -

Variant

Price

S AT

Rs 11.49 lakh

G AT (new)

Rs 13 lakh

V AT

Rs 13.73 lakh

The new automatic variant, similar to the mid-spec Ertiga ZXi AT, is priced at Rs 1.06 lakh higher than the entry-level S AT but comes at a Rs 73,000 lower price point as compared to the fully loaded V AT.

Powertrain Details

Toyota provides the Rumion with a single 1.5-litre petrol engine sourced from the Ertiga, delivering 103PS/137Nm. It comes with a choice of either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Additionally, this engine is available with an optional CNG kit, resulting in a reduced output of 88 PS and 121.5 Nm, and is exclusively paired with the 5-speed MT.

Additional Features

As the mid-spec model, the Rumion's G trim offers a decent range of features including a 7-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car technology, push-button start/stop, and a 6-speaker music system. In terms of safety, the Rumion G is equipped with dual front airbags, an electronic stability program (ESP), and a hill-hold assist.

CNG Variant now available

Toyota has resumed bookings for the CNG variant of the Rumion, which was temporarily suspended in September 2023. The Rumion is offered in a sole S CNG variant, priced at Rs 11.39 lakh.

Price Range & Competitors

The Toyota has priced Rumion in the range of Rs 10.44 lakh to Rs 13.73 lakh. Positioned as a competitor to the Maruti Ertiga, it also offers an affordable alternative to larger MPVs such as the Kia Carens, Toyota Innova Crysta, and Toyota Innova Hycross.
